Wizz Air flies from Lamezia Terme to Rome Fiumicino
Wizz Air introduces a new domestic route between Lamezia Terme and Rome Fiumicino, strengthening air connections between Calabria and the capital. The new flight will be operational from October 25, 2026 and is already available for booking.
The connection will be operated twice a day, every day, offering Calabrian passengers greater flexibility for business trips, family travel, city breaks and connections to other destinations on the Wizz Air network.
The Lamezia Terme-Rome Fiumicino route will play an important role in Calabria's national mobility, because it will connect the Lamezia airport with one of the main Italian airports and with the largest Wizz Air base in the country. For those departing from Calabria, this means more possibilities to reach Rome and access the national and international connections available from Fiumicino airport.
Wizz Air has been operating from Lamezia Terme Airport since 2 March 2005, when it inaugurated the airport's first connection to Budapest. Since then, the company has progressively consolidated its presence in Calabria, connecting the region with several European destinations.
Wizz Air's current network from Lamezia Terme includes several destinations: Sofia in Bulgaria and Bratislava in Slovakia, both with 2 weekly frequencies, as well as Budapest in Hungary, Katowice and Warsaw in Poland, each with 3 weekly frequencies.
In Italy, Wizz Air is now the second airline by market share, with 12%, 44 aircraft based, 310 routes to 33 countries, 26 Italian airports served and 7 operational bases: Catania, Milan Malpensa, Naples, Palermo, Rome Fiumicino, Turin and Venice.
The announcement of the new route was presented at the meeting in Budapest between József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air, and Roberto Occhiuto, President of the Calabria Region. The discussion concerned new opportunities to strengthen the connectivity of the region, support tourism development and accompany the future growth of the carrier in the area.
