Wizz Air's new Venice-Craiova route

Craiova joins the 19 destinations in Europe that can be reached by the carrier from the lagoon city, such as Athens, Barcelona, London, Madrid and Tel Aviv

Wizz Air and the SAVE Group further consolidate their strategic collaboration by announcing the launch of the new Venice-Craiova route, operational from 23 May.

The opening of the route represents a new step in Wizz Air's expansion at the Venetian airport, supported by the strengthening of the fleet based in the Lagoon. A key step was the arrival, last December, of the third Airbus A321neo aircraft assigned to the base of Venice airport.

The new flight connects two very different but complementary realities. On the one hand, Venice, a global icon of cultural tourism and a privileged gateway to the Italian North-East; on the other Craiova, the main urban center of Oltenia, a rapidly growing academic and cultural center, characterized by neoclassical architecture, large green spaces and a dynamic cultural scene.

Tickets for the new route are already available on wizzair.com and on the official WIZZ app, with fares starting from €14.99. Flights will be twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, and will be operated with Airbus A321neo, the latest generation aircraft designed to offer greater passenger comfort, reduced emissions and lower noise impact.

With Craiova, the number of European destinations served by Wizz Air from Venice rises to 19, alongside key cities such as Athens, Barcelona, London, Madrid and Tel Aviv

Wizz Air in Italy is positioned as the third operator by market share with 9%. Italy is now the company's first market for passengers transported on the entire network: in 2025 it operated over 96,000 flights, activated 267 routes in 33 countries and transported more than 21 million passengers, an increase of 8% compared to the previous year. The company serves 26 Italian airports and plans to offer over 27 million seats in 2026, with a fleet of 29 aircraft spread over five national bases.
