Volotea has the highest safety standards

IATA audit passed with excellence: the company confirms itself as one of the most reliable operators in the European airline sector

Volotea has successfully renewedits IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certification until 2027. The recognition, issued according to the new IOSA Risk-Based Audit (RBI) methodology, confirms the carrier's deep commitment to operational safety and strengthens its role as a reliable and high-performance operator.

The audit conducted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) concluded with excellent results in all the areas analyzed, rewarding in particular the maturity of Volotea's Safety Management System (SMS), in line with the requirements of EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).

The security system has been defined by IATA as "one of the best ever evaluated", thanks to the solid safety culture rooted in every organizational level and the ability to face the challenges of a complex and geographically extended network.

"The renewal of the IOSA certification demonstrates that Volotea meets the highest safety standards. We are proud of the level reached by our SMS, among the first certified with the new RBI methodology," said Eduard Diviu, Chief Operating Officer of Volotea.

Among the elements of excellence highlighted are the management of team training, Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and a cybersecurity program already compliant with the regulatory changes introduced by EASA Part-IS.

This result positions Volotea among the carriers that not only comply with international safety standards, but that exceed them, contributing to the evolution of the sector in an increasingly safe and sustainable way.

Founded in 2011, Volotea now connects over 110 European airports with a network of more than 420 routes, more than half of which are operated exclusively. With a fleet of 41 Airbus A319s and A320s and more than 2,000 employees, the airline exceeded 75 million passengers in 2025 and aims to reduce CO₂ emissions per passenger-kilometre by 50% by 2030.

Awarded for two consecutive years by Skytrax as "Best Low-Cost Airline in Europe" and by World Travel Awards as "Europe's Leading Low-Cost Airline", Volotea continues to stand out for its reliability, growth and attention to quality.
