Ryanair strengthens its presence in Sicily and announces the 2026 summer schedule for Trapani-Marsala Vincenzo Florio Airport, the carrier's third Sicilian base and twentieth in Italy. The expansion follows the opening of the new operational base from January 2026 and the decision of the Sicilian Region to abolish the municipal surcharge in the island's minor airports, a measure that has favored an immediate increase in connectivity and tourist attractiveness of the area.
For passengers departing from western Sicily, summer 2026 translates into more choice and competitive prices on a growing network.
24 routes and 6 new destinations
The Ryanair program for summer 2026 from Trapani-Marsala includes:
- 2 aircraft based (investment of 200 million dollars),
- 24 total routes, including 6 new destinations: Bari, Bournemouth, Lublin, Saarbrücken, Stockholm and Verona,
- 1.2 million passengers per year expected (+35%),
- Over 960 jobs supported locally.
The increase in the offer strengthens the connections between western Sicily and mainland Italy, as well as expanding international connections to Northern Europe and Central Europe, making Trapani strategic for those traveling to and from the Marsala area and the entire province.
Impact on tourism and territory
The planned growth will contribute to the economic development of Trapani, Marsala and the entire region, supporting the tourism sector and improving connectivity throughout the year. The goal declared by Salvatore Ombra, President of Airgest - the management company of Trapani airport - is to reach 1.5 million passengers by 2026, accompanying the expansion with an infrastructure investment plan: 8 construction sites are planned by the end of the year for a total of 13.8 million euros for the restyling of the airport.
