Ryanair confirms 57 routes from Rome in winter 2026
Ryanair confirms for winter 2026 an operation of a total of 57 routes from Rome, distributed between Fiumicino and Ciampino, without however forecasting further growth compared to the current capacity.
From Rome Fiumicino (FCO) the company will operate 36 routes with 10 based aircraft, while from Rome Ciampino (CIA) 21 connections will be served by 6 based aircraft. Overall, Ryanair expects around 11 million passengers per year at the two Roman airports.
Ryanair's fleet based in the capital therefore includes 16 aircraft, for an investment indicated by the company at 1.6 billion dollars. Ryanair also estimates that its operations in Rome support over 8,400 jobs.
For winter 2026, however, the carrier does not expect growth. According to Ryanair, it is limited by the increase in airport fees, the municipal surcharge and, in the case of Ciampino, the limit of 65 daily flights.
The issue mainly concerns Ciampino airport. Ryanair cites an independent study by Professor Roberto Devoto, according to which the airport could handle up to 115 flights a day, 77% more than the current limit, remaining within the current legal noise limits with the use of Boeing 737-8200 aircraft, which the company indicates as 40% quieter.
Ryanair also reports increases in airport fares of up to 50% at Ciampino and 14% at Fiumicino by 2028 and asks the Italian government to review the constraints that, according to the carrier, limit further investments and new growth opportunities in Rome.
