Digital boarding passes only for Ryanair
From 3 November 2025, the low-cost carrier will exclusively issue electronic boarding passes with the myRyanair app
Ryanair has announced that the switch to fully digital boarding passes will be implemented with the start of the winter schedule, starting from 3 November 2025. From this date, Ryanair passengers will no longer need to print their paper boarding pass, but will use the digital boarding pass generated in the myRyanair app at check-in.
Currently, 80% of Ryanair's 200 million passengers already use electronic boarding passes. With this transition, the company plans to almost completely eliminate airport check-in fees, as all passengers will register online or via app.
Benefits: Less waste and a smarter travel experience
Switching to digital boarding passes will not only simplify the passenger experience, but will also have a positive impact on the environment, saving over 300 tons of paper each year.
The myRyanair app will offer travellers a range of useful features, including:
- orders on board directly from the seat to be served first (new 'Order to Seat' functionality),
- real-time updates on flights, gates and boarding status,
- notifications from the Ryanair operations centre in case of delays or inconveniences,
- immediate alternative flight options in case of cancellations to reach the destination,
- All travel documents in one place, also accessible offline.
What changes for passengers?
- Ease of sharing: The lead passenger will be able to download and share boarding passes via WhatsApp or email for all travelers in the booking.
- Support at the airport: in case of empty or lost smartphone, the passenger can receive free assistance.
- Improved accessibility: Ryanair passengers with visual impairments will be able to hear boarding pass details thanks to the voice readers built into Apple and Android devices.
