Turkish Airlines expands its fleet
With the world's largest network of destinations, Turkish Airlines is taking a decisive step in its growth plans by signing an agreement with Boeing to purchase 75 wide-body aircraft between 2029 and 2034: 50 firm orders and 25 options for the 787-9 and 787-10 Dreamliner models. At the same time, the company has concluded negotiations with the American manufacturer for 150 narrow-bodies, including 100 firm orders and 50 options for the 737-8/10 MAX, pending the definition of contracts with engine manufacturers Rolls-Royce, GE Aerospace and CFM International.
The agreement reinforces the long-standing partnership between Turkey and the United States and consolidates the long-standing bond between Turkish Airlines and Boeing. The airline, which already operates more than 200 Boeing airplanes, will introduce for the first time the Boeing 787-10, the largest in the Dreamliner family, capable of reducing fuel consumption by up to 25 percent and enhancing passenger and cargo capacity on high-demand routes from Istanbul to the United States, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The Boeing 737 MAXs, on the other hand, will ensure efficiency and flexibility on short and medium-haul routes, further strengthening the role of Istanbul (IST) as a global hub.
The agreement is part of the company's "Vision 2033", which envisages a fleet of over 800 aircraft with 90% new generation by 2033 and 100% by 2035, supporting an average annual growth of 6%.
