The Safety Briefing Card for blind and visually impaired passengers
ENAC and ITA Airways present the new card available by 2025 in Italian and English on all the airline's aircraft
ENAC and ITA Airways have created a new edition of the Safety Briefing Card dedicated to supporting blind and visually impaired passengers, under the patronage of the Minister for Disabilities. The official presentation will be on 12 November during the event "Free to fly: accessible and inclusive air transport" organized by ENAC at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in Rome, in the presence of the Hon. Minister Alessandra Locatelli, with a special focus on Passengers with Disabilities and Reduced Mobility. The famous artist Andrea Bocelli expressed his appreciation for the initiative.
Ita Airways' new Safety Briefing Card, which will be available by 2025 on all the company's aircraft in Italian and English, offers safety information designed for blind and visually impaired passengers. Made with multisensory and innovative technologies, the card includes:
- Text and colors optimized for the visually impaired.
- Texts in Braille.
- Three-dimensional figures illustrating emergency exits, cabin configuration, use of seat belts, emergency positions, operation of the life jacket and oxygen mask.
The card, designed with high-contrast fonts and embossed using advanced UV printing techniques, represents an important step towards an increasingly inclusive and accessible travel experience. Passengers with visual impairments will be able to enjoy their air travel with peace of mind and gain safety information on their way to their destinations.
