Qatar Airways launches early check-in in Mecca
The service allows passengers departing from Jeddah to complete check-in procedures, receive their boarding pass and deposit their luggage in the city, reducing waiting times at the airport
Qatar Airways has introduced a new early check-in service in Mecca, designed to provide Hajj and Umrah pilgrims with a smoother and more stress-free travel experience. Created in collaboration with Saudi Ground Services (SGS), the service allows passengers departing from Jeddah to complete check-in procedures, receive their boarding pass and deposit their luggage directly in the city, reducing waiting times at the airport.
As of March 1, 2025, the service is available at the Makkah Clock Royal Tower, a Fairmont Hotel, strategically located with direct access from the ring road (L2). This initiative simplifies the departure process, allowing travelers to focus on their spiritual path with greater serenity and comfort. By using early check-in in Mecca, passengers benefit from a faster departure process, with luggage transported safely to the airport and significant time savings at check-in counters.
Mecca
Mecca is located in Saudi Arabia, in the western region of the country, and is the holiest city in Islam. It is located in the province of Mecca (Makkah Province), about 70 km east of Jeddah and close to the Red Sea. The city is the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and is the destination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. In the center of Mecca is the Kaaba, located inside the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram), considered the holiest site in Islam. Access to Mecca is allowed only to Muslims, while non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the city.
With more than 120 weekly flights to 11 cities in Saudi Arabia, including 35 weekly flights from Doha to Jeddah, Qatar Airways continues to improve connectivity and comfort for all its passengers.
