Iberia brings ultra-fast Wi-Fi on board all flights
Iberia is preparing to usher in a new era of in-flight connectivity. The Spanish airline, part of the IAG group, has signed a strategic alliance with Starlink, the satellite internet system developed by SpaceX, to offer all passengers a high-speed Wi-Fi service, free of charge and available on all flights, both short and long-haul.
The initiative, which will be implemented from 2026, will allow Iberia customers to browse, work and access their digital content with the same fluidity as a home connection. Thanks to Starlink's advanced technology, based on a network of thousands of satellites in low orbit, passengers will be able to enjoy download speeds of up to 450 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 70 Mbps, staying connected anywhere, even in the most remote destinations on the planet, such as the polar routes.
The partnership between IAG and Starlink is part of the Flight Plan 2030 strategic plan, which places innovation and digitalization at the heart of the group's growth. Iberia will allocate a significant part of the €6 billion of investments planned to develop new technologies, enhance artificial intelligence and create Ciudad Iberia, an aeronautical innovation hub of excellence.
