Discounted rates for "Roots Tourism"
An agreement has been signed between MAECI and ITA Airways that offers discounts on flights for Italians and Italian-descendants, promoting the link with the origins and enhancing the Italian cultural heritage in the world
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, and the President of ITA Airways, Antonino Turicchi, presented the Agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Italian airline of reference, signed in recent days. This initiative aims to strengthen the link with Italian communities abroad and to encourage tourism in Italy, allowing Italians and Italian-descendants to rediscover the places of origin of their ancestors.
The agreement will offer discounted rates for the purchase of airline tickets through the "Italea Card" program, also known as the "Passport of the roots". Users will be able to access discounted fares through the italeacard.com website, where a link to the offer page on the ITA Airways website will be available. The agreement, which consolidates an already well-structured institutional collaboration, will also make it possible to launch joint promotional activities between the Foreign Ministry and ITA Airways, increasing the visibility of initiatives related to Roots Tourism.
2024 has been designated the Year of Italian Roots in the World, and this agreement reflects the shared desire of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ITA Airways to strengthen the bond with the approximately 80 million people of Italian origin around the world.
