British Airways takes premium tea to 35,000 feet

From 1 May, the award-winning blends of the British brand Birchall will be on board, to offer passengers a tasting experience of the highest level

British Airways has announced a new partnership with Birchall, a family-owned British brand and producer of the UK's most awarded tea, to offer passengers a world-class tasting experience, both in the air and on the ground.

From 1 May 2025, Birchall's selections will be served on all long-haul flights and, from June, also in Club Europe class on short-haul routes. From July, the blends will also be available for purchase in the Euro Traveller cabin via the High Life Café.

Among the proposals, the famous Great Rift English Breakfast stands out, awarded for 14 consecutive years at the Great Taste Awards and recently winner of the gold medal at the Leafies Awards 2024. Varieties such as Earl Grey, Chamomile, Peppermint, Green Tea, Lemongrass & Ginger, Red Berry & Flower and decaffeinated blends complete the offer.

British Airways lounges around the world will also welcome Birchall blends. Passengers in the Concorde Room and the First and Club lounges will be able to choose from different infusions, ideal for relaxing or recharging before their flight.

Sustainability remains central to British Airways: the filters used are made of vegetable fibre, while production takes place in a factory powered entirely by solar energy.

This is part of British Airways' £7 billion transformation plan, aimed at enhancing every aspect of the travel experience, enhancing British excellence and authenticity. Following the announcement of the new British sparkling wines served in First Class, Birchall also takes tea to new heights of quality.
