American Airlines returns to fly from Milan to Miami
American Airlines expands its offer from Italy and announces the return of the direct Milan Malpensa (MXP) - Miami (MIA) connection. The new flight will be operational from March 29, 2026, with a daily frequency, on board the modern Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
After the success of the routes to New York (JFK) and Philadelphia (PHL), the US company chooses to further strengthen its presence in Lombardy, confirming Milan as one of the main European gateways for travellers departing from the United States.
With the new direct connection, passengers will be able to fly comfortably from Milan to sunny Miami, an iconic Florida city known for its white beaches, Latin culture, avant-garde food scene and Art Deco architecture.
Miami is also American Airlines' main hub for Latin America and the Caribbean, with more than 70 destinations served, including more than 40 exclusively. These include fascinating places such as Ocho Rios (Jamaica), La Romana (Dominican Republic) and South Caicos (Turks and Caicos), perfect destinations for those looking for a holiday of sea and discovery.
The return of the direct flight to Miami reinforces Malpensa's role as an international hub. In the first seven months of 2025, the airport recorded a growth in passenger traffic of 11%, driven by long-haul flights (+14%). The United States is confirmed as the first non-European market in terms of traffic volumes, with an increase of 8% compared to the previous year.
Thanks to the new route, in summer 2026 Malpensa will offer 74 weekly flights to the USA, directly connecting Italian passengers with seven American destinations.
