Air India returns to Rome Fiumicino with direct flights from Delhi
Air India has announced the return of non-stop flights between Delhi and Rome, marking the resumption of operations in the Italian capital after almost six years of suspension due to the pandemic. Starting from March 25, 2026, the company thus strengthens its presence in Europe and expands connectivity between Italy and India.
The connection will be operated with four weekly frequencies (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) between Delhi and Rome Fiumicino Airport, using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners configured with 18 flatbed seats in Business Class and 238 seats in Economy. The launch of the service will allow Indian Travellers to plan spring and summer trips in Italy and Europe in advance, while Italian passengers will benefit from direct access to the Indian capital.
Rome also becomes a strategic gateway to Air India's Asian network: thanks to the global hub in Delhi, flights are scheduled to offer convenient connections to Southeast Asia, including destinations such as Bangkok, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Phuket and Singapore.
With the introduction of Rome, Air India will serve eight airports in continental Europe and three in the United Kingdom, consolidating its international expansion strategy. Bookings for Delhi-Rome flights will be progressively available on all the airline's official channels, including the company's website, mobile app, airport ticket offices and travel agencies globally.
