Düsseldorf Airport renews shopping and dining
With the inauguration of the new concepts, Düsseldorf Airport and Lagardère Travel Retail Germany mark a new stage in the development of the airport, with a project that aims to make the time spent at the airport before departure more enjoyable.
For Travellers, the novelty translates into a terminal and gate area richer in services, with a renewed shopping and dining proposal designed to accompany different moments of the journey: from a quick snack before boarding to a more relaxed break at the restaurant, up to the purchase of books, snacks and useful items for departure.
The project also represents one of Lagardère Travel Retail's main openings in the German airport market. According to Düsseldorf Airport, the new spaces reinforce the airport's goal of getting closer to the best European airports, focusing on quality of experience and pleasantness of stay.
A central part of the project concerns the strengthening of catering. The new formats bring international cuisine, street food and regional specialties to the airport, with some brands and concepts making their debut in the German market.
Among the novelties stands out EL&N London, a London lifestyle café known for its pastries, coffee specialties and the recognizable design of its spaces. Then comes Popeyes, which introduces over fifty years of Louisiana culinary tradition to Germany, with a menu inspired by Cajun and Creole flavors and proposals such as the famous Chicken Sandwich and spicy chicken nuggets.
Also part of the new mix is Bona'me, a concept created by the Doğan family, which offers modern oriental cuisine with freshly prepared dishes and open kitchens, in a formula that combines suggestions from the East and the West. Then there is Papa Pepe, a format inspired by the Amalfi Coast and the streets of Naples, with pizza, pasta and arancini in a covered market atmosphere. Completing the food proposal is Rheinbissen, which brings to Terminal A a contemporary interpretation of the great gastronomic classics of the Rhineland, designed for a local and international audience.
On the travel retail front, the offer expands with several new RELAY stores, a brand specializing in essential products for travelers. The shops offer a selection of newspapers, books, snacks, drinks, travel items and essentials, built on the needs of passengers on the move. In addition to a wide selection of literature in German and English, readings with local authors are also planned in the future.
Eight more travel retail stores are planned in the coming months, including additional RELAY stores and new concepts such as Affenbande and Discover. Future projects also include the RELAY Café, a hybrid format that will combine travel retail, publishing, bookshop and cafeteria, integrating shopping and breaking in a single space.
