GX42: natural elegance takes off
The debut of the GX42, the flagship of the new GX Superyachts fleet, marks the beginning of a new chapter in high-end nautical design. The result of a design approach based on the balance between aesthetics, functionality and sustainability, this 42-meter yacht embodies a well-defined vision: to offer an exclusive, harmonious and familiar space, where every detail expresses elegance without ostentation.
At the heart of this project is the collaboration with Marco Casali, an Italian designer with a recognizable style and always attentive to the relationship between form, matter and light. It is the first time that the interiors of the GX line have been unveiled, and the effect is surprising: a sophisticated yet relaxed environment, perfectly calibrated to the needs of a property oriented towards sharing and long-term livability.
The GX42 comes in the Raised Pilot House (RPH) configuration, which allows for optimal space layout. The exterior line is fluid and sculpted, crowned by a low, sleek upper profile that gives the entire silhouette a sense of dynamic lightness. This configuration allows the main deck to be reserved for a sumptuous full-beam owner's suite, with panoramic views and a private terrace in the bow: a true overwater apartment, complete with foyer with study corner, walk-in walk-in closet and oversize bathroom.
The lower deck, freed from the presence of the master suite, houses an extraordinary full-width VIP cabin, embellished with a folding balcony on the port side. The king-size bed is flanked by a large wardrobe area and a luxurious bathroom with a "rainforest" shower and double sinks. The result is an oasis of quiet and privacy, perfect even for a co-owner.
The sleeping area is completed by three guest cabins, designed to ensure maximum flexibility: two have double beds that can be converted into twins, while the third is designed for the little ones, with two single beds and a third foldaway in Pullman style. All cabins are en-suite and boast a storage capacity above category standards, underlining the GX42's vocation for long periods of family cruising.
The convivial environments have been studied with particular attention. The main deck houses a bright living area and an elegant dining area for ten people, designed to encourage relaxed conversations and shared moments. On the upper deck, protected by a soft-lined hardtop, a real terrace overlooking the sea takes shape, with sofas, chaise longues, a scenic bar and a panoramic Jacuzzi that invites contemplation.
The interior design by Casali is a hymn to naturalness and serenity. The common thread is represented by the skilful use of noble materials and refined textures: Canaletto walnut panels, white leather, matt lacquers and Italian fabrics of the highest quality alternate in a game of tactile and visual contrasts. All volumes are shaped with wide and soft curves: no sharp edges, no abrupt interruptions. The walls, furniture, shelving and even the frames of the mirrors harmonize in a continuous flow, in which comfort takes shape.
The furnishings (signed by iconic brands such as Poltrona Frau and B&B Italia) are chosen to dialogue with the interior architecture, replicating the aesthetics of structural curves. The color palettes remain neutral, enriched by delicate touches of natural color: a sage green pillow, a deep blue linen blanket, or a work of art. Some walls are in fact embellished with works from the owner's private collection, while the liquid metal panels with a rippled finish reflect the movement of the sea, reinforcing the dialogue between the interiors and the external landscape.
One of the most refined elements of the GX42 is undoubtedly the lighting. The large floor-to-ceiling windows on the main deck allow exceptional natural light, but it is the lighting technology developed in collaboration with Ultra Luce that creates spectacular atmospheres. Direct and indirect lights, perfectly dosed, allow you to switch from functional lighting to a softer and more relaxing one, shaping each room according to the mood and time of day.
