Starlink on board Embraer jets
Embraer has announced the introduction of Starlink connectivity as an aftermarket option for the Praetor 600, Praetor 500, Legacy 500 and Legacy 450 executive jets, in collaboration with Nextant Aerospace, Flexjet's engineering division. The solution will be available through a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).
FAA certification has already been achieved for the Praetor 500 and Legacy 450 fleets, while the Praetor 600 and Legacy 500 are expected by the third quarter of 2025. To follow, ANAC approval is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025 and EASA in the first quarter of 2026.
Starlink, the low-orbit satellite system developed by SpaceX, guarantees high-speed internet connection and low latency (less than 99 milliseconds), even when flying over remote areas and oceans. With this performance, you can use bandwidth-intensive applications, such as 4K video calls, VPNs, and online gaming, throughout the entire flight.
The Starlink STC is also being developed for the Phenom 300 jets, which are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Flexjet, the largest Praetor operator in the world, plans to install Starlink on its entire fleet. Embraer's network of service centers – with nine locations globally – is already ready to support customers who wish to integrate the new system on board, by reservation through the company's Aftermarket Sales representatives.
