Gulfstream G500 and G600 get green light for steep approaches in Europe
Gulfstream Aerospace's Gulfstream G500 and Gulfstream G600 have achieved EASA certification for Landing, a milestone that further extends the operation of the two business jets in Europe and around the world.
EASA's recognition allows operators to access a wider number of airports with short runways, steep descent profiles and stringent environmental constraints, increasing mission flexibility for business and corporate flights. With EASA certification for steep approaches, Gulfstream reinforces the attractiveness of the G500 and G600 to the European market, offering operators greater accessibility to premium destinations and even more versatile flight planning.
Testing and previous certifications
The G500 and G600 had already been certified for steep approaches by the FAA in 2023 and 2024. To achieve FAA and EASA approvals, both aircraft successfully demonstrated low-speed maneuverability and short-field landing capability, carrying out operational trials at London City Airport (UK) and Lugano Airport (Switzerland).
Fleet and performance
There are currently over 350 G500 and G600 in service globally. The fleet has accumulated more than 350,000 flight hours, 173,000 landings and over 120 city-pair speed records, confirming performance and efficiency as a benchmark in the large-cabin business jet segment.
