Gulfstream G300 and G400 debut in Europe
Gulfstream unveiled the new G300 and G400 in Europe at its "Discover the Difference" event in Farnborough, England. Farnborough Airport (IATA: FAB; ICAO: EGLF), formerly known as TAG Farnborough Airport and RAE Farnborough, is a general, commercial and executive aviation airport located in Farnborough, in the district of Rushmoor, in the English county of Hampshire. Here, customers and operators were able to see a full-scale model of the G300 and one of the three examples used in the G400 test program.
The G300 is a super-midsize jet designed to combine range, speed, and the ability to operate on short runways. It can travel 3,600 nautical miles, equal to 6,667 kilometers, at Mach 0.80 or 3,000 nautical miles, about 5,556 kilometers, at Mach 0.84. This performance makes it possible to reach a greater number of airports, including some airports that are more difficult to use with aircraft of similar size. The cabin, listed by Gulfstream as the longest in its category, accommodates up to ten passengers in two separate living areas.
The G400 is aimed at those looking for superior performance and more choice in interior configuration. During the transfer from Washington to Farnborough he traveled 3,250 nautical miles, about 6,019 kilometers, in 6 hours and 12 minutes, maintaining an average speed of Mach 0.87 and using sustainable aviation fuel. The aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW812GA engines and can be configured to carry nine, eleven or twelve passengers. The aerodynamic design has been developed to contain fuel consumption, noise emissions and fuel use, while maintaining good performance on the track as well.
Both models offer ten oval panoramic windows, a low cabin altitude and a system that uses 100% outside air, without recirculation, purified through plasma ionization. Solutions designed to limit fatigue and improve well-being during longer flights.
In Europe, Gulfstream also made a stop at Milano Prime. The static exhibition organized with SEA Prime brought together the G400 used in flight tests, together with the Gulfstream G600 and G700. The G400 was fresh from its first transatlantic speed record between Washington and Farnborough, set using a blend composed of 70% sustainable aviation fuel. The event confirmed Milano Prime's role among the main European business aviation hubs, offering operators, customers and industry professionals the opportunity to get to know three models of the new Gulfstream generation up close.
