Signature Aviation Expands to Van Nuys Airport in California
Signature Aviation expands its presence at Van Nuys Airport (VNY-KVNY) with the acquisition of Castle & Cooke Aviation Services LLC. The transaction was completed on September 15, 2026, and the facility, now referred to as VNY North, has joined Signature's global network, which includes more than 200 locations in 27 countries and five continents. The transaction increases Signature's capacity at one of the world's busiest general aviation airports and strengthens the group's presence in the Southern California business aviation market.
Where is Van Nuys Airport located
Van Nuys Airport is located in the San Fernando Valley, within the city of Los Angeles, and is dedicated to non-commercial aviation. Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) operates both VNY and Los Angeles International Airport. The airport is located in the northwestern part of the Los Angeles urban area, about 25 miles, 40 kilometers, from Downtown Los Angeles. The location also allows you to reach the different areas of the metropolis and Southern California locations such as Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Burbank, making Van Nuys particularly relevant for private flights to the Los Angeles region. VNY occupies approximately 730 acres and is home to numerous aviation-related businesses, including FBO operators, maintenance, hanging, and other services for private and corporate aircraft.
Castle & Cooke Aviation becomes Signature VNY North
With the integration of Castle & Cooke Aviation's operations, Signature has increased capacity to service aircraft, crew and passengers arriving and departing from Van Nuys. The facility now joins the Signature network under the name VNY North, complementing the group's existing operations at the airport.
Van Nuys, a central stopover for private flights to Los Angeles
The acquisition is particularly important for Van Nuys' position in the region's airport system. Unlike Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is primarily dedicated to commercial traffic, VNY is focused on general, private and corporate aviation. Both airports are operated by Los Angeles World Airports. For Signature Aviation, the integration of Castle & Cooke therefore increases the capacity available in a market characterized by a high presence of business and private traffic, strengthening the network of services dedicated to Travellers who use Los Angeles and Southern California as their final destination or departure point.
