Capua Airport: new runway and development of the RAM Terminal
The "Oreste Salomone" Airport in Capua, in the province of Caserta, enters a new phase of development with the completion of the runway paving works and the positive outcome of the Services Conference on the airport enhancement project.
The runway, 1,400 meters long, represents the first intervention already completed as part of a broader program supported by ENAC and Enac Servizi. The approved project includes the construction of a new RAM Terminal, new aircraft aprons, storage hangars, office and technical support buildings, a new access road with curbside, a fuel depot and distributor and new spaces for technological services.
The interventions will be developed progressively and according to modularity criteria, with the aim of improving the organization of airport activities, accessibility and overall efficiency of the airport. The project also includes solutions oriented towards environmental sustainability and greater energy autonomy.
Capua in Regional Air Mobility
The future of the airport is also linked to the Regional Air Mobility program, developed by ENAC through Enac Servizi to create a network of connections between territorial airports and promote more integrated air mobility. The new RAM Terminal will be one of the central elements of this transformation, destined to expand the role of Capua Airport beyond the activities already present at the airport.
The Oreste Salomone also maintains a strong link with the aeronautical and aerospace sector of the area. Tecnam operates in Capua, while the CIRA - Italian Aerospace Research Center is located nearby. Among the prospects indicated is also the collaboration for the experimentation of aircraft with electric and hydrogen propulsion.
Role in business aviation for the 2027 America's Cup
The expansion of the airport could also play a role in the development of business aviation in Campania. In view of the 2027 America's Cup in Naples, Capua Airport is in fact a candidate to operate, in coordination with Naples Airport, as a support infrastructure for the management of business aviation traffic expected during the event.
This is currently a prospect and not an already operational service. However, the future availability of new aprons, hangars and dedicated infrastructure could strengthen the capacity of the Campania airport system to accommodate private jets and other general aviation aircraft.
