Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, one of the two largest airports in Turkey, is located in Pendik / Kurtköy in the Asian side of Istanbul and is 12 km from Pendik, 40 km from Kadıköy and 50 km from Istanbul's Taksim Square, in the European part of the city.

The new terminal of the airport was built with a modern design to which a new infrastructure (Domestic Terminal Annex Building) was recently annexed, to reach 41 million travelers per year bringing the implementation of new services to the Terminal including parking, cargo services, general aviation terminals and hotel services.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport offers various services to passengers: check-in and self-service check-in counters; passport control areas; bars and restaurants; shopping area; Duty free; Vip Lounge; a two-story VIP building adjacent to the terminal; a congress center; multi-storey car parks; Hotel adjacent to the airport terminal.
 
Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport with the airlines operating in the airport offers connections to various destinations in Turkey and internationally, it also acts as a hub for AnadoluJet and Pegasus Airlines, as well as a secondary base for Turkish Airlines.

The airport facility is named after Sabiha Gökçen, the adopted daughter of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the world's first female fighter pilot. ISG is the company that manages Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport and was founded in 2008 and, since 2014, is a 100% part of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).

Transport to/from Sabiha Gökçen airport
Metro
With the extension of the M4 Kadıköy-Tavşantepe metro line, the Sabiha Gökçen Airport Metro Station was put into service. There are three entry points to Sabiha Gökçen Metro Station: National CIP Parking and Hall, Airport Hotel and Terminal.
Sabiha Gökçen metro station:
  • From Kadıköy Station, to T3 Kadıköy Line - Moda Tram, City Lines, Marine Buses and Marine Engines,
  • From Ayrılık Çeşmesi Station to Marmaray Line,
  • From Ünalan station to the Metrobus line,
  • From Pendik Station you can transfer to Pendik High Speed Train Station via IETT buses.
 
Train

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is located 14 km from Pendik Railway Station, which is connected to Istanbul's Hayadarpasa Station (in the Asian part of the city).

 

Bus
All means of public transport depart from the passenger terminal in front of the Arrivals floor. By bus you can reach the M4 metro line at the Tavşantepe terminus which is about 10 km from the airport.
  • Transportation by bus to Istanbul Airport (IST):
From Halkalı, Mecidiyeköy and Atatürk stops, Havaist buses serve with departures from Taksim, Kozyatağı, Democracy Bus Terminal, Yenikapı and Tüyap. Passengers going from Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) to Istanbul Airport (IST) can reach Istanbul Airport (IST) using Havaist Pendik flights and bus number IST-8 which departs from the plane's outdoor parking arrivals at Sabiha Gökçen airport.
  • Transportation by bus to Taksim and Kadıköy:
To reach Taksim from Sabiha Gökçen airport you can take Havabus buses. Those who prefer to travel by sea can travel to Kadıköy with the E11 IETT buses or the Havabus buses, board the Kadıköy - Kabataş ferry and reach Taksim square in Istanbul with the transfer to the Kabataş funicular.

The airport is located on the Anatolian shore at Pendik / Kurtkoy, at a distance of 40 km to Kadikoy, 12 km to Pendik and 50 km to Taksim Square in Istanbul. The airport can be reached via the TEM (E80) motorway. Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is also 14 km away from Pendik Sea Bus Port.
