ENAC focuses on Regional Air Mobility for Italy

Strategic vision for a more sustainable regional air transport network, integrated with other transport systems, to promote tourism relocation

On 21 May, the meeting of the Logistics and Transport Technical Group of Confindustria, chaired by Leopoldo Destro, was held with the participation of the President of ENAC Pierluigi Di Palma, flanked by Marco Trombetti (Sole Director of Enac Servizi) and Dr. Tiziana Bufacchi (owner of Avioitaliana).

During the discussion, ENAC illustrated a new strategic vision for air transport in Italy, with Regional Air Mobility (RAM) as a key element. The RAM model aims to create an innovative and integrated network of short-haul air connections, which connects smaller airports and integrates them with other transport systems and surrounding territories, thanks to the use of advanced technologies and new generation aircraft.

Among the innovations highlighted, the amendment to the ENAC Regulation for the "assignment of minor state-owned airports" stands out, which now allows scheduled flights between different "city-pairs", thus favoring the development of new commercial connections.

A concrete example is the Rome Urbe airport, already an operational hub of RAM, with regular flights to eight regional airports and integrated connections to Fiumicino by helicopter-plane and cycle path.

This vision of regional air mobility fosters a smarter, more sustainable and inclusive transport network, responding to the needs of local communities and promoting tourism relocation and widespread territorial development.
