Wizz Air reaffirms 'B' score in CDP's 2024 climate ranking
With the recognition of the Carbon Disclosure Project, the airline demonstrates its continued commitment to sustainability and the reduction of CO2 emissions
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) score is one of the most relevant indicators globally for measuring and communicating the environmental impact of companies, helping to steer the sector towards increasingly ambitious sustainability goals. Wizz Air has again achieved a "B" score in the Carbon Disclosure Project's (CDP) 2024 climate ranking. The award highlights the company's environmental transparency and commitment to combating climate change.
For the second year in a row, Wizz Air has been recognized for its efforts in reducing CO 2 emissionsand adopting advanced environmental management measures. The "B" score reflects the airline's initiatives in disclosing its sustainability policies, implementing risk management processes and green pricing strategies.
CDP has updated its methodology, now also assessing climate risks and opportunities, progress towards emissions reduction targets and global environmental strategies more broadly. Wizz Air has responded with concrete actions, including a commitment to reduce its CO2 emissions by 25% by 2030 and the pioneering use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on selected routes.
Wizz Air, which operates a fleet of 227 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, was recognized as "Most Sustainable Low-Cost Airline" from 2021 to 2023 and "Best Company for Carbon Reduction" at the 2024 World Finance Sustainability Awards. In addition, it was awarded the "EMEA's Environmental Sustainability Airline Group of the Year" award at the CAPA-Centre for Aviation Awards for Excellence 2024.
Wizz Air continues its commitment to decarbonization and environmental sustainability, helping to educate its customers on the importance of more sustainable flying and promoting responsible travel practices.
