Swiss expands Air Rail network
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) and the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) announce a new expansion of the SWISS Air Rail programme, the service that seamlessly integrates travel by train and air.
As of 27 October 2025, the cities of St. Gallen (St. Gallen, relevant for its academic and industrial role), Locarno (renowned for its film festival) and Constance (gateway to the Lake Constance region) will officially join the SWISS Air Rail network, with direct connections to and from Zurich Airport.
All the advantages for Travellers
The SWISS Air Rail programme offers numerous benefits:
- Single booking: train and flight tickets issued directly by SWISS;
- a single boarding pass for the entire trip;
- Maximum flexibility: the train ticket can be used the day before the flight or until the day after arrival;
- guaranteed connections in case of delays;
- Earning miles and Miles & More points;
- First class travel on SBB trains for Swiss Business and First passengers.
The expansion of the service responds to the growing demand for multimodal and sustainable travel. Swiss tickets for the new destinations are already available from 16 October 2025. With the addition of these three new locations, the SWISS Air Rail network reaches a total of 24 destinations in Switzerland, Germany and Austria, offering passengers simpler, more sustainable and comfortable mobility solutions.
