The university center for aeronautics is born in Bergamo

Integrated training between universities and EASA certification for aircraft maintenance technicians and engineers

The first national university center dedicated to aeronautical training and advanced mobility is taking shape in Bergamo. The project is promoted by the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO and the Aircraft Engineering Academy (AEA), with an innovative model that integrates academic training and technical training certified according to the European EASA Part-147 standard.

The new hub, with main offices in Bergamo and Messina, combines distance learning, face-to-face activities and direct connections with the professional world, offering students a flexible path oriented towards entering the job market.

Education and career opportunities

The program combines a Bachelor's Degree in Management - Industrial Engineering (specialization in aeronautical maintenance and advanced technologies) and EASA Part-147 certified technical course.

Students will be able to obtain their degree and, in parallel, advance towards the European professional license for aircraft maintenance. Enrollments are managed through mesh-education.it, with operational support from MESH. At the same time, an internationalization path is planned to export the Italian training model, with the aim of positioning the hub as a global reference in the training of aeronautics and aerospace technicians and engineers.

According to Boeing's "Pilot and Technician Outlook 2025–2044" report, by 2044 about 710,000 new maintenance technicians will be needed worldwide and 165,000 in the Eurasia area. In Italy, the estimated need is between 24,000 and 25,000 technicians, driven by the growth in air traffic, the expansion of fleets and generational turnover.

The initiative strengthens the link between universities, industry and the territory, with the support of SACBO and Milan Bergamo Airport, increasingly development hubs for training and employment in the aviation sector. As specified by Giovanni Sanga, president of SACBO "Milan Bergamo Airport confirms itself as a generator of ideas and opportunities in its surroundings and the birth of the first National University Center for Aeronautical Training represents the further leap in quality of the already high-level activity launched by AEA for the training of qualified technicians in aircraft maintenance. A path of absolute academic value that enriches the response to the need for specialized figures in the civil aviation sector".

In addition to the President of Bergamo Airport Giovanni Sanga, the presentation conference was attended by: Hon. Giorgio Gori, Hon. Lara Magoni, Councillor for Infrastructure and Public Works of the Lombardy Region, Claudia Maria Terzi, Mayor of Azzano and Councillor Lenzini.
