Dubai International accelerates on biometrics, self-service and new passenger services
Dubai International (DXB) is accelerating its passenger experience innovation program, with new investments in biometrics, self-service services, intelligent flow management and operational capacity. The interventions accompany the progressive recovery of international connections and aim to make travel through the Dubai hub easier and smoother.
Among the innovations announced by Dubai Airports is a new centralized experience for departures from remote pitches, along with the expansion of self-service options, the evolution of biometric systems and interventions on the design and functionality of the main areas dedicated to Travellers.
The goal is to facilitate movement within the terminals, reduce the most complex passages of the airport route and improve comfort in waiting areas, also using technology to make flow management more efficient.
In the first half of 2026, DXB welcomed 31.5 million passengers, including 13 million in the second quarter. Volumes grew from 3.5 million in April to 4.5 million in May and 5 million in June, signaling a gradual recovery in demand. By the end of the half-year, the airport was served by nearly 50 international airlines, with connections to 217 destinations in 99 countries.
Operational data also shows short crossing times: 98.98% of passengers completed passport control on departure in less than 10 minutes, while 99.34% passed through security in less than five minutes.
DXB also handled 30.3 million bags in the first six months of the year, with a misunderstanding rate of 2.7 per 1,000 passengers.
With the gradual return of air capacity and international frequencies, Dubai Airports therefore aims to strengthen the second half of 2026 with an increasingly automated, efficient and fluidly oriented airport for the passenger journey.
