Final phase and operational tests

With the green light from the authorities, Fraport is completing the preparation of the 21 security lanes equipped with the latest generation of computed tomography technology, as well as the completion of the catering and shopping areas and the testing of the automated baggage handling system.

From January 27 to April 16, 2026, approximately 8,000 volunteer passengers will take part in a 21-day operational simulation, testing all travel procedures to ensure a perfect start.

A new travel experience

From the day of opening, 57 airlines (currently operating in Terminal 2) will gradually move into the new Frankfurt Terminal 3 (FRA Airport), in four phases between mid-April and early June 2026. The terminal will accommodate both Schengen and non-Schengen flights, offering passengers a smoother, more efficient and comfortable travel experience thanks to bright spaces, integrated digital technologies and next-generation retail services.
