"Ol Casél" is born at Milan Bergamo airport
"Ol Casél", the first building in Italy dedicated to airport services created with architectural 3D printing technology, takes shape at Milan Bergamo Airport. A pioneering project that marks a new step in the path of innovation and sustainability of the Lombard airport, combining advanced technologies and enhancement of the territorial identity.
The building was built as a service module to support the new truck park inside the airport Logistic Park and represents a concrete example of responsible construction, oriented towards energy efficiency, reduction of environmental impact and conscious use of resources. The construction has been designed to ensure comfort, functionality and speed of construction, while reducing waste and consumption.
The project is promoted by EDILCO in collaboration with SACBO, the airport management company, and WASP, an international reference point in architectural 3D printing. The synergy between the partners has given rise to a real laboratory of sustainable innovation, capable of integrating design, technology and communication into a common vision.
Between November 24 and December 19, the Ol Casél construction site was opened to the public, transforming itself into a participatory experience that involved institutions, stakeholders, schools and citizens. It was thus possible to observe the printing of the walls live thanks to the Crane WASP, an architectural 3D printer of Italian technology capable of creating building structures with natural materials, reduced times and lower environmental impact.
The name "Ol Casél" recalls the rural tradition of Bergamo, reinterpreted in a contemporary key. This symbolic link between memory and future makes the building a tangible sign of the airport's sustainable transition, in line with the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) objectives pursued by the airport.
More than just a building, Ol Casél represents a statement of vision: a concrete example of how airport infrastructure can become a place of experimentation, culture and environmental responsibility. With this project, Milan Bergamo Airport thus strengthens its positioning as an innovative and sustainable hub, demonstrating that building the future also means regenerating, educating and consuming less.
