New check-in area at Milan Bergamo Airport
SACBO, the management company of Milan Bergamo Airport, today inaugurated the new check-in area dedicated to passenger and baggage check-in operations, thus adding a further step in the passenger terminal expansion program.
The space integrates with the already operational areas dedicated to reception and anticipates the opening, scheduled for December 2025, of the new area dedicated to security checks, located on the upper floor above the check-in area equipped with the latest generation X-ray machines.
The new area includes 30 check-in stations, including:
22 self drop bags for self-registration
of checked baggage,
- 8 traditional desks.
These are in addition to the 34 already existing
(28 traditional + 6 self drops), bringing the grand total
64 check-in stations.
The check-in counters are surmounted by 2 high-resolution LED monitors, which show departure times and gates with better visibility in real time, with an energy saving of 30%
compared to older backlit LCD systems.
To improve flow management, the entire area is equipped with stereoscopic sensors that monitor waiting times at check-in counters in real time.
For the expansion works of the eastern section of the passenger terminal, which will be completed in December 2025, SACBO has invested 41 million euros based on the auction of its own financial resources.
The project is aimed at improving the capacity and quality of services at the Milan Bergamo Airport terminal in view of the airport's future growth.
