A record-breaking chocolate train at Milan Bergamo airport
At 55.27 meters long and 28 quintals of chocolate, the "Winter Games Express" is officially the longest chocolate sculpture in the world. The work, which reproduces a train, was created by Italian and Maltese pastry chefs, supported by students from hotel schools and professional institutes of culinary arts.
The sculpture of the chocolate train "Winter Games Express" was certified by the Guinness World Record as a "Longest Chocolate Sculpture" during a ceremony hosted at Palazzo Lombardia, which was attended by the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, and Giovanni Sanga, President of SACBO.
Now the sculpture "Winter Games Express" has arrived at Milan Bergamo Airport, where it will be exhibited in the public area of the terminal until February 20, also allowing passengers and companions to admire it before or after the trip. The airport is thus transformed into an exceptional exhibition space, in view of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The initiative combines craftsmanship excellence, international cooperation and solidarity. Inside the airport there are volunteers from the Palliative Care Association, and visitors can support the project through the purchase of solidarity chocolate bars, the proceeds of which will be donated to the ODV-ETS Palliative Care Association of Bergamo and the St. Michael Hospice of Santa Venera (Malta).
"It is a symbol of craftsmanship excellence, a form of international cooperation and an extraordinary example of solidarity, thanks to the presence of volunteers from the Palliative Care Association in the airport", said Giovanni Sanga. "We are happy and proud to host a unique record-breaking work, allowing thousands of people to admire it and contribute to the solidarity purpose".
For passengers in transit from Milan Bergamo Airport, the "Winter Games Express" becomes a special moment to admire the record-breaking sculpture and, at the same time, participate in an interesting cultural and solidarity experience.
The non-edible chocolate used to make the trains, supplied by Belcolade Puratos, is Cacao Trace certified and, at the end of the exhibition at the airport, will be recovered and reused in agriculture, reducing the environmental impact of the project and thus also paying great attention to sustainability.
