Milan Bergamo Airport receives the Gold Level of the Bike Friendly certification
The first airport and the first management company to have obtained this European recognition for its commitment to intermodality and sustainable mobility
Milan Bergamo Airport and the management company SACBO S.p.A., already pioneers in 2021 with the European "Bike Friendly" certification issued by FIAB (Italian Environment and Bicycle Federation), confirm their leadership in cycling. Not only have they renewed the SILVER level, but they have achieved the highest recognition, the GOLD level.
The FIAB - "Bike Friendly Company" (CFE-ITA) certification, based on the European "Cycle Friendly Employer" (CFE) protocol, rewards companies that promote a work environment conducive to the use of bicycles. This certification, developed by a consortium of 16 European partners, represents a common standard to recognize virtuous companies throughout Europe.
Commitment to a sustainable future
The official delivery of the GOLD certification was held today at SACBO's management offices, in the presence of SACBO's President, Dr. Giovanni Sanga, FIAB's Vice President, Valeria Lorenzelli, and Christophe Sanchez, CEO of Visit Bergamo. This prestigious award celebrates SACBO's ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable mobility, in line with the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
SACBO's vision is not limited to encouraging employees to use bicycles for their home-work journey, but also extends to tourists and travellers, who are increasingly interested in integrated mobility. The airport, in fact, is perfectly connected to the main cycle paths of Lombardy and to the national networks, offering infrastructures and services dedicated to lovers of two wheels.

The President of SACBO, Giovanni Sanga, expressed great satisfaction with the goal achieved: "SACBO supports with great determination all interventions aimed at intermodality and the reception of tourists and travelers interested in this mode of travel. The future goes in this direction. Our airport is well connected to the main Lombardy and then national cycle paths. SACBO works to ensure that its employees and the entire airport community can safely decide to go to work using this vehicle. This certification is a confirmation to continue investing in projects dedicated to sustainable mobility".
Towards an increasingly bike-friendly future
Thanks to this important recognition, Milan Bergamo Airport and SACBO consolidate their role as promoters of positive change, demonstrating that sustainability and soft mobility can become strategic elements for Bergamo, the territory and the community. With the aim of continuing to grow, SACBO looks to the future with new projects dedicated to integrated mobility, helping to build a virtuous model of sustainable development.
