Malpensa establishes itself as an international airport luxury hub

With the opening of the new Dior and Louis Vuitton boutiques, the Lombard airport reinforces its identity as an exclusive destination for experiential shopping while traveling

Milan Malpensa consolidates its role as a European hub of reference in the high-end travel retail segment, with the inauguration of the new Dior and Louis Vuitton boutiques inside Terminal 1. Two iconic international fashion brands that enrich a commercial offer already strongly oriented towards luxury and the quality of the passenger experience.

With these new entries, the luxury segment brands present at the airport rise to 22, not to mention the numerous corners and pop-ups activated in collaboration with the main duty-free operators. The strategic location of the new boutiques, located in the airside area after security checks, offers travellers immediate and privileged access to an elegant space consistent with the highest standards of international fashion retail.

The initiative is part of a clear and coherent vision by SEA - the management company of Milan's airports - which aims to make Malpensa increasingly attractive and competitive at a global level. The goal is to combine infrastructural efficiency, high quality services and a commercial offer capable of satisfying the needs of an attentive and demanding international clientele.

The luxury segment is now one of the main growth drivers for the airport retail system. In the first five months of 2025, sales in this sector recorded an increase of +18% compared to 2024, confirming a positive trend already evident last year, which closed with an overall growth of +21%.

Demand is driven in particular by passengers from Asia and the Middle East, which alone account for over 80% of transactions in the luxury segment, with an average purchase value increasing by more than +9%.

These performances are part of a broader framework of recovery and consolidation for the entire commercial system managed by SEA, which in 2024 recorded a record turnover of 470 million euros in the retail and catering sectors, with sales growth of 15.4%. The figure includes an increase of 16.6% in catering and an increase in average spending per passenger in both shops (+3.1%) and food & beverage (+4.5%).

The opening of the Dior Boutique and the Louis Vuitton Boutique therefore represents a further step towards a modern, integrated and high value-added airport model, capable of transforming the time spent at the airport into an exclusive experience, combining excellent services and high-end shopping.

Milan Malpensa Airport thus confirms its vocation not only as a strategic gateway between Europe and the world, but as a lifestyle destination and reference for the contemporary global traveler.
