Dublin Airport gets a makeover to welcome passengers

A series of improvements have been guaranteed for a more comfortable travel experience for the more than 10 million passengers arriving during the summer

Summer 2025 promises to be the busiest ever for Dublin Airport, the island's main international gateway, through which about 65% of Irish air traffic passes.

During the peak months of June, July and August, the airport expects a monthly flow of about 3.5 million passengers. To ensure a smooth experience, daa (the airport operator) aims to maintain the commitment already respected last year: to ensure that at least 90% of passengers have a waiting time of less than 20 minutes at security checks

An average of 121,000 passengers per day is expected during the summer. The airport's summer offer offers up to 190 destinations served by 43 airlines with more than 2,600 flights departing each week to more than 130 European cities, including the most popular holiday destinations.

Therefore, Dublin Airport has announced a series of improvements to ensure a more comfortable travel experience for passengers.

Expansion of facilities and services at Dublin Airport (DUB)

  • Increased seating: More than 1,000 new seats added in the terminals, including 420 in boarding areas, 100 with charging points, 150 dedicated to people with reduced mobility and 350 in pre-screening areas.
  • Lounge renovation: The Liffey Lounge (formerly T2 Lounge) and the Martello Lounge (formerly East Lounge) have been renovated. In addition, the expansion of the T1 Lounge, which will double its capacity, is planned.
  • New dining options: 15 new dining options have opened, including Arthur Guinness Bar, Pret A Manger, Boxx, Kimbok and The Garden Terrace in Terminal 1. In Terminal 2, Roasted Notes and Butler's cafes have opened, with the imminent addition of a new Irish bar and wine bar called The Reserve.
  • Additional services for passengers: new Fast Track facility in Terminal 1; five new suites in the VIP Platinum terminal and a new "Drop & Go" parking service in the short-term car park of T1. In addition, the "Airport Club" loyalty program offers access to lounges, Fast Track and Duty Free discounts.
  • Hydration stations: Replaced 23 free water filling stations with new and improved units, capable of providing the equivalent of 100,000 500ml water bottles per month.
  • New airport app: The updated app offers real-time information on flights, waiting times at security checkpoints, Duty Free discounts, interactive maps and the ability to book parking spaces, Fast Track access, lounges and Platinum services.

Mobility and accessibility improvements at Dublin Airport (DUB)

  • Public transport information centre: A new hub in Terminal 1 offers real-time information on more than 1,100 bus services, campus maps and smartphone charging points.
  • Cleanliness and hygiene: over 400 cleaning operations in the terminals and 30 in the main outdoor areas. In addition, 35 new smart bins have been installed at the airport.
  • Family Areas: Three new children's entertainment areas at the departure gates of terminals T1 and T2, bringing the total to five. The opening of a play area for teenagers with consoles is also planned.
  • Pet Services: The Pet Relief lounge in Terminal 2 has been refurbished and a second lounge will be added to Pier 2 in Terminal 1 later this year.

The implementation of the C3 security scanners at Dublin Airport, which will allow liquids and electronic devices not to be removed from luggage, will be completed by the autumn.

Passengers who require special assistance are asked to book assistance at least 48 hours before the flight while, for travelers with autism or sensory disorders, "Important Flyer" lanyards and bracelets are available and staff are trained to recognize the "Sunflower" lanyard, which indicates the need for additional support.
