Alguerunway 2026: racing on the Alghero track

On the night between Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March 2026, the runway of Alghero Airport will become the scene of a unique event in Sardinia: ALGUERUNWAY 2026, a non-competitive running event over distances of 5 and 10 kilometers that combines sport, territory and solidarity.

Promoted by Alguerunners ASD in collaboration with SOGEAAL, the airport management company, and with the patronage of the Municipality of Alghero, the Alghero Foundation and the ASL n. 1 of Sassari, the initiative represents an unprecedented experience for the North West of Sardinia: running at night directly on the runway, in a location normally reserved for airport operations.

Sport and solidarity for the territory

In addition to the sporting aspect, ALGUERUNWAY 2026 has a strong solidarity purpose. The entire proceeds of the event, net of organizational expenses, will be donated to the Pediatrics department of the Civil Hospital of Alghero, with the aim of supporting projects, activities and equipment for the benefit of young patients and their families.

Every kilometer traveled thus becomes a concrete gesture of closeness to the local community, strengthening the link between the airport, the city and the territory.

Involvement of schools and attention to sustainability

The project also has an educational value: the primary schools of Alghero will be involved in an educational path dedicated to the issues of the environment and sustainability, promoting a culture of social responsibility and active participation.

ALGUERUNWAY was born with the intention of transforming sport into a tool for sharing and awareness, looking to the future and to the new generations.

How to participate

The event is open to all adults in possession of a competitive or non-competitive medical certificate. Registrations are open until March 7, 2026 via the official website.
