Singapore Airlines celebrates 20 years of flights to Malpensa
Singapore Airlines celebrates the 20th anniversary of the direct connection between Milan Malpensa and Singapore, inaugurated on 20 July 2006 with a Boeing 777-200ER.
The route, initially launched with three weekly frequencies, has grown over time to become daily, responding to the demand for travel between Milan, Northern Italy, Singapore and destinations in the Asia-Pacific area.
Today, the connection is operated with Airbus A350-900 configured with 253 seats: 42 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy and 187 in Economy Class.
To celebrate the anniversary, Singapore Airlines and SEA Aeroporti di Milano organized a ceremony at the Malpensa gate for passengers of flight SQ355 bound for Singapore, with institutional speeches by Aldo Schmid (Head of Aviation Business Development of SEA Aeroporti di Milano) and Aswin K (General Manager Italy, Singapore Airlines), Lion Dance, cutting of the cake and commemorative tributes.
The milestone confirms the route's role in business and leisure connections between Italy and Southeast Asia and strengthens Singapore Airlines' presence in the Italian market, where it has been operating for 55 years.
