Wizz Air flies from Rimini to Katowice and Sofia
Wizz Air and AIRiminum, the management company of the "Federico Fellini" Airport, have announced the launch of two new direct routes from Rimini to Katowice (Poland) and Sofia (Bulgaria).
A strategic expansion that aims to consolidate the ties between the Romagna Riviera and Central-Eastern Europe, intercepting a growing demand for leisure and business travel.
The flights will be operated with Airbus A321neo aircraft, which guarantee reduced fuel consumption, greater efficiency and improved on-board comfort, in line with the airline's commitment to more sustainable and accessible mobility.
- Rimini - Sofia: from 31 March 2026, with three weekly frequencies (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday).
- Rimini - Katowice: from 8 June 2026, with two flights per week (Monday and Friday).
The opening of these routes - which follows the announcement of the Rimini - Budapest connection, operational from 8 June, by a few days - expands travel opportunities and strengthens two-way tourism to Romagna.
Wizz Air's expansion in Romagna reflects a national growth strategy: in 2025 the company, the third carrier in Italy by market share (9%), operated almost 85,000 flights to and from the country, with 245 active routes in 32 countries and 19 million passengers transported (+8% compared to 2024). Currently, Wizz Air flies to 27 Italian airports, with 23 million seats offered and 29 aircraft based in five domestic hubs – an ever-expanding network that confirms Italy as the Group's first European market.
