Eurowings inaugurates the new direct connection between Cagliari and Salzburg, expanding the international offer of Cagliari-Elmas Airport for the 2026 summer season. From 23 May, the German company of the Lufthansa Group operates the new route with a weekly frequency every Saturday, operating until 24 October 2026.

With the start of the flight to Salzburg, the number of destinations served by Eurowings from the main Sardinian airport rises to four. In addition to the new Austrian route, the Summer 2026 timetable confirms connections to and from Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, strengthening the company's presence in Cagliari and Sardinia's connectivity to markets historically relevant to tourism on the island.

The new destination represents an interesting opportunity both for Sardinian Travellers and for incoming tourism. Salzburg, known as the music capital of the world and the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, is an ideal destination for those looking for culture, concerts, museums and historical atmospheres. At the same time, the Austrian city is an excellent starting point for an active holiday in nature, between Austria and neighboring Germany.

The direct connection with Salzburg consolidates the international growth path of Cagliari Airport and strengthens the link with the Austro-German area, which has always been interested in Sardinia and in particular in the south of the island. The new route offers new travel opportunities to passengers departing from Sardinia and, at the same time, allows to attract additional tourist flows to Cagliari and the regional territory, also thanks to the network of Eurowings and the Lufthansa Group.
