Recaro seats for LOT Polish Airlines
Star Alliance member LOT Polish Airlines is taking a new step towards excellence in onboard comfort with the introduction of modern RECARO seats, which will be installed on its Boeing 737 MAX 8 and Airbus A220 aircraft. The first delivery took place at the RECARO plant in Świebodzin, marking the start of equipping one of the thirteen Boeing 737 MAX 8s that will join the Polish carrier's fleet by the end of 2026. In total, LOT expects to receive around 14,000 state-of-the-art seats, designed to ensure a superior travel experience.
The new RECARO R2 seats combine lightness, technology and functionality. Designed with ergonomics and comfort in mind, each seat features an individual 60W power outlet for fast charging of electronic devices, BYOD support for tablets and smartphones, a six-position adjustable headrest, extended armrests, a contoured backrest made of high-density foam and an ultra-lightweight sliding table.
Weighing less than 10 kg, the RECARO R2 seats also contribute to greater operational efficiency by reducing fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. Their modular design also promotes faster and more sustainable maintenance, in line with the company's environmental policies.
The introduction of the new seats is part of a wider interior renovation program promoted by LOT Polish Airlines. All incoming Boeing 737 MAX 8s will feature completely redesigned cabins, inspired by the refined design of LOT's Polonez business lounges in Warsaw and Chicago. The goal is to harmonize the style of the entire fleet, creating visual consistency with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which will also undergo a major interior restyling.
Founded in 1929, LOT Polish Airlines is one of the longest-running airlines in the world, as well as one of Poland's most internationally recognized brands. The carrier connects Central and Eastern Europe with major global destinations, offering direct long-haul flights to the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea and India. For these routes, it uses the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, one of the most technologically advanced wide-body aircraft in the world.
