Lufthansa Group airlines expand flights for the summer

More connections from the hubs of Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich and Brussels: flights to India, Southern Europe, the Iberian Peninsula, Greece and Italy are growing

The airlines of the Lufthansa Group are strengthening their offer for summer 2026 with an expansion of connections, designed to respond to the increase in business and leisure demand. The new schedule includes an increase in frequencies to India and a significant increase in flights in Europe, with more availability especially during the high season.

On the long-haul route, Lufthansa will add two weekly flights from Frankfurt to Chennai, two to Delhi and one to Hyderabad, while an additional weekly flight to Bangalore will be introduced from Munich. SWISS is also strengthening its network to India, with seven more weekly flights to Delhi already included in the programme.

In Europe, Lufthansa plans around 540 additional flights from its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich between April and October 2026. The expansion will particularly affect tourist destinations in Southern Europe and some destinations in Northern Europe, with a significant increase in capacity to destinations in the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal), Greece and Italy.

The expansion also affects the other companies of the group. Austrian Airlines will add around 700 flights from Vienna, SWISS over 100 flights from Zurich and Brussels Airlines around 170 flights from Brussels. Overall, the Lufthansa Group's summer offer will therefore grow to around 1,600 additional departures distributed between the group's main European hubs.

The expansion of the airlines' schedule was also made possible thanks to a reshaping of the flight schedule to the Middle East. However, the Lufthansa Group points out that the geopolitical environment remains variable and subject to rapid change, with possible effects on the market and operating costs, including those related to fuel.
