Ramadan with Emirates: special services on board and at the airport

Complimentary iftar at gates and in flight, religious content on ice and traditional dishes in lounges in Dubai, Cairo and Jeddah

On the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Emirates is strengthening its services dedicated to fasting passengers, offering assistance, special meals and religious content both on board and at the airports of its network, with a particular focus on the hub of Dubai International Airport (DXB).

Iftar boxes at gates and in flight

During iftar hours, Emirates distributes free Iftar boxes at selected boarding gates , containing water, labans, bananas and dates, to allow passengers to break their fast comfortably.

On board, on selected routes and in all travel classes, nutritionally balanced Ramadan meal boxes are served, in addition to the regular hot meal service. The packages, decorated with geometric patterns inspired by Islamic art, include traditional dates, light mezze such as hummus, moutabel or muhammara with Arabic bread, sandwiches with mossakana or herb chicken, typical sweets such as pistachio baklawa, mamoul or chocolate almonds, as well as laban.

To ensure accuracy in imsak and iftar times during the flight, Emirates uses a system that calculates sunrise and sunset based on the latitude, longitude and altitude of the aircraft. The captain officially announces the iftar time at sunset.

On request, passengers can also receive special prayer mats available on all Emirates flights.

The First and Business Class lounges offer typical dishes such as hot and cold mezze, lentil soup, Arabic mixed grill with tahini, lamb kabsa, chicken machboos, ouzi lamb shank with hashweh rice and dakous. Desserts include pistachio or cheese kunafa, saffron basbousa, walnut kathayef, kitta cheesecake, date or baklawa ice cream, accompanied by traditional drinks such as jallab and laban.

The Emirates lounges in Cairo and Jeddah also offer menus dedicated to Ramadan. All lounges also have prayer rooms and dedicated services to ensure a peaceful environment.
