Qatar Airways completes installation of Starlink on Boeing 777s
Qatar Airways, recently named the World's Best Airline by Skytrax 2025, has completed the installation of the Starlink system on 54 Boeing 777s, becoming the first global carrier to offer ultra-fast and free Wi-Fi on an entire fleet of widebody aircraft.
Thanks to this milestone, the carrier now operates the largest number of long-haul aircraft equipped with Starlink technology, offering navigation speeds of up to 500 Mbps per aircraft. The service is available completely free of charge to all passengers, in Economy and Business class, from boarding to arrival.
The rollout, initially scheduled to take two years, was completed in just nine months (almost half the estimated time) with an average of 9.5 hours per aircraft, without interfering with flight operations. The airline is now aiming to expand the service to the Airbus A350 fleet as well, so as to extend this innovation to even more global routes. Since the introduction of the first 777 with Starlink in October 2024, Qatar Airways has already operated over 15,000 connected flights.
