United extends Palermo-New York flight until December
United Airlines' direct Palermo-New York/Newark flight will operate until December 17, extending the connection between Sicily and the United States beyond the traditional summer season. For passengers departing from Falcone Borsellino Airport, the novelty means more time to travel to New York and North America without intermediate stops.
The extension until December helps to lengthen the tourist season, offering new opportunities to US Travellers interested in visiting Palermo and Sicily in the autumn and winter months, periods more suitable for cultural, gastronomic itineraries and out of the peaks of the high season.
During the summer, starting from 22 May, the Palermo-New York/Newark flight will be operated on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In the next phase, the connection will continue with frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The service will be operated with Boeing 767-400 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which United uses on transatlantic routes. Passengers will thus have a direct connection between western Sicily and the New York metropolitan area, arriving at Newark Liberty Airport (EWR), one of the main airports for access to Manhattan and United's US network.
The Palermo-New York JFK route operated by Neos also remains confirmed, with two weekly frequencies. The presence of more connections to New York strengthens the role of Palermo airport in traffic between Sicily and the United States and expands the choice for those traveling between the two sides of the Atlantic.
