New global connections: Virgin Australia flies to Doha
From June 2025, new routes will connect Sydney, Brisbane and Perth to Doha, opening the door to more than 100 global destinations thanks to the strategic partnership with Qatar Airways
Virgin Australia has announced the opening of bookings for new direct flights from Sydney, Brisbane and Perth to Doha, operational from June 2025. These routes, operated in partnership with Qatar Airways using Qatar Airways Boeing 777s , will offer Australian travellers access to more than 100 destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The partnership between Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways aims to boost competitiveness in the international market by improving connectivity and expanding choices for customers. This collaboration is expected to generate over A$3 billion for the local economy over the next five years, creating new opportunities for Australian tourism and businesses.
The new flights will not only make it easier for travellers, but also increase cargo capacity, providing more opportunities for Australian exporters, particularly in the agricultural sector. In addition, small and medium-sized businesses and corporate travelers will benefit from competitive fares and a stronger international network.
Bookings for these new routes are already open, with Melbourne joining the list of cities served by the end of 2025. This expansion represents a significant step in strengthening Virgin Australia's presence in the international market and offering more travel options to Australian customers.
