Mauritius grows with Emirates
Mauritius consolidates its position among the most sought-after destinations in the Indian Ocean thanks to the contribution of Emirates, a strategic partner of the island since 2002. From 2022 to 2025, the airline transported over one million visitors to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU), accounting for more than 20% of the overall tourist arrivals recorded in the period.
A result that has supported the entire local tourism supply chain - hotels, restaurants, tour operators - generating employment and widespread economic benefits.
Record arrivals in 2025
According to official data, Mauritius welcomed 1,436,250 visitors in 2025, an increase of 3.9% compared to 2024. Emirates recorded even more marked growth, with a 5.7% increase in passengers transported to the island compared to the previous year.
In 2025 alone, the company brought nearly 309,000 tourists to Mauritius, mainly from the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, France, Italy, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. At the same time, high-potential leisure markets such as the United States, China, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have been developed.
Compared to 2022, when 207,000 arrivals were carried by Emirates, the increase in 2025 was 50%, confirming the carrier's central role in the post-pandemic recovery.
