First direct flight Fiumicino-Denver with United Airlines
The new seasonal Rome-Denver flight enriches United Airlines ' current network between Italy and the United States, which includes daily year-round flights from Rome and Milan to New York (Newark), annual services from Rome to Washington (Dulles) and seasonal flights from Rome to Chicago (O'Hare) and San Francisco, from Milan to Chicago (O'Hare), from Naples to New York (Newark) and from Venice in New York (Newark). The latter resumed operations three weeks earlier than in 2024 and will be active until December 18, 2025, almost two months longer than last season.
United is also launching new seasonal routes from Venice to Washington D.C., scheduled to start on May 23, 2025, and from Palermo to New York (Newark), active from May 22, 2025. Overall, for summer 2025, United will operate up to 14 daily direct flights between Italy and the United States.
The new route from Rome Fiumicino to Denver is part of the largest international expansion in the company's history, which will introduce six new destinations and nine new transatlantic routes this summer.
United will also launch five new flights from its New York/Newark hub to exclusive destinations including Nuuk (Greenland), Bilbao (Spain), Palermo (Italy), Madeira Island and Faro (Portugal). From Washington D.C./Dulles, three new routes are planned: the first direct connection to Dakar (Senegal), operating all year round, and two seasonal flights to Nice (France) and Venice (Italy).
United will operate 800 daily flights to 140 international destinations this summer, 32 of which are not served by any other American airline.
On board: comfort and services
The new Rome–Denver flight will be operated with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, configured with 257 seats: 48 suites in United PolarisSM business class, 21 seats in United Premium PlusSM and 188 in United Economy, including 39 Economy PlusSM seats with more personal space. The Dreamliner offers panoramic windows, larger overhead bins and LED lighting that simulates the natural cycle of the day, helping to adapt the biological rhythm. The cabin also features lower altitude, cleaner air, and more stability in flight, improving the overall experience.
- In United Polaris, passengers will enjoy flat-bed seats with direct aisle access, gourmet meals and top-of-the-line onboard amenities from Therabody and Saks Fifth Avenue.
- United Premium Plus offers wider, reclining seats, as well as premium toiletries, cushions and blankets.
- Economy Plus seats provide more legroom and quick disembarkation on arrival,
- Standard Economy includes free on-demand entertainment, food and drinks, plus adjustable headrests.
United in Italy
United has been operating in Italy since 1997 and offers annual flights from Rome and Milan to New York/Newark, in addition to the aforementioned seasonal connections from Rome to Chicago, Denver and San Francisco, from Milan to Chicago, from Naples to New York/Newark and from Venice to New York/Newark and Washington D.C. The new seasonal route from Palermo to New York/Newark will be inaugurated on May 22, 2025.
Focus on Denver
During summer 2025, United plans to serve over 180 destinations in 11 countries from Denver. The Denver hub is United Airlines' most dynamic and fastest-growing hub, with Rome joining as the fourth European destination alongside year-round flights to London and Frankfurt and seasonal service to Munich.
