The MyDutyFree of Munich Airport reopened with a new design
A modern shopping experience in the Terminal 2 of Munich Airport
After a six-month makeover, the Duty Free Shop in Terminal 2, Level 05 (H Gate Area) has reopened with the new MyDutyFree branding. The concept, idea and renovations were carried out by Munich Airport’s retail subsidiary in cooperation with the Gruschwitz design office.
To provide a sense of local color, the decor and signage in the new MyDutyFree shops reflect the character of some of Munich’s best-known neighborhoods. The new store is inspired by Lehel. One of the city's most picturesque districts, Lehel is home to the world-famous English Garden and the ever-popular wakeboarding scene in the Eisbach stream. With its splendid streetscapes and imposing buildings, Lehel also features plenty of cultural and architectural highlights.
Along with a wealth of international labels, the new MyDutyFree shop offers a wide range of regional products, including popular spirits from distilleries in Munich and Bavaria such as Slyrs Whisky from Schliersee and Lion’s Vodka and The Duke Gin, both by The Duke, situated in Aschheim, just outside Munich. The store also offers bags and accessories from the young Munich design label Any Di and scents created by the Munich-based luxury perfumery Lengling.

“By expanding our product range to include regional brands, and with subtle references to the city of Munich, we underscore Munich Airport’s strong sense of local identity,” says Sven Zahn, the managing director of Munich Airport’s regional subsidiary.
“With the MyDutyFree brand, we have implemented a unique concept at Munich Airport. And now, with the launch of our sixth shop with the new design, we have opened up a very special retail experience”, says Philipp Ahrens, the head of center management at Munich Airport.
Within a few years of its opening, Munich Airport has developed into an important aviation hub and is in fact one of the busiest airports in Europe, which currently offers connections to more than 250 destinations around the world.
