Bari Airport: new duty free of over 1,000 square meters

Heinemann Italia renews the agreement with Aeroporti di Puglia and prepares a new walk-through store on the second floor of the departures terminal

Bari Airport will have a new duty free of over 1,000 square meters, intended to expand the commercial offer for passengers as part of the redevelopment of the departures area. The project stems from the renewal of the agreement between Heinemann Italia, a company of the Gebr. Heinemann group, and Aeroporti di Puglia.

The opening of the new store is scheduled for the second half of 2028, but remains subject to the completion of the ongoing renovation and modernization works in the airside areas of the terminal.

The new store will be built on the second floor and will adopt a walk-through configuration, integrating directly into the passenger journey after security checks. For those departing from Bari, the novelty will above all involve more space and a wider assortment. Regional products will continue to play a central role, flanked by a greater presence of the other typical duty free categories.

Particular attention will be paid to Puglia, with a proposal designed to recall landscapes, culture, food and wine and local productions. The new space therefore aims to combine the international offer of travel retail with products capable of representing the destination also in the eyes of foreign Travellers.

Heinemann Italia currently operates two stores at Bari Airport: the main store of about 600 square meters on Level 1 and a gate shop of about 30 square meters. Both will remain operational during the development phase of the new project. When the new duty free goes into operation, the main store on Level 1 will be closed, while the gate shop will continue to operate.

The future duty free will therefore not only be a larger commercial space, but one of the elements of the terminal's new passenger route, with the aim of further integrating shopping, local identity and airport services.
