Sussex House: Gatwick celebrates the excellence of local produce
A new restaurant in London Gatwick Airport brings the best of Sussex's culinary tradition to the table, with zero-km products and a gin distillery unique in the world
London Gatwick Airport has opened the Sussex House Kitchen and Bar, a new restaurant showcasing Sussex's finest produce. This opening is part of the Sussex Six initiative, launched by the airport the previous April, with the aim of increasing the presence of local products in its stores and restaurants.
The Sussex House offers passengers a selection of 15 products from nine Sussex manufacturers, including:
- Silly Moo Cider from Trenchmore Farm (Cowfold, Horsham District, West Sussex) is a cider made from local apples,
- Sticky Toffee Pudding by Sussex Bakes Limited (Chichester, West Sussex) is an artisanal and high-quality version of the famous British dessert,
- Sussex Cheese Charmer by Bookham Harrison Farms (Rudgwick, Horsham District, West Sussex),
- Premium fruit juices from Folkington's (Arlington, Wealden District, East Sussex),
- Sussex Garden London Dry gin, distilled on-site in the world's first airport gin distillery.
Not only does this initiative promote local products, but it also contributes to the regional economy, with London Gatwick Airport (LGW) generating over £4 billion for the local economy in 2023.
The Sussex House Kitchen and Bar is located before security in the North Terminal and is operated by The Restaurant Group (TRG), which has become the 100th company to join the Sussex Six campaign.
