La Piadineria debuts in airports with Chef Express
La Piadineria enters the airport travel channel with two new openings made in collaboration with Chef Express in the airports of Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY). The two airports, which together record a total traffic of over 48 million passengers per year, represent respectively the second and third Italian airports in terms of attendance, offering the brand a strategic showcase with high national and international visibility.
The openings, scheduled for May 22 at Milan Malpensa and May 29 at Milan Bergamo, mark La Piadineria's entry into one of the most dynamic segments of out-of-home catering: the airport sector. A context in which the food offer is no longer just a functional service, but becomes an integral part of the travel experience, with recognizable, fast formats capable of guaranteeing quality even in moments of greater flow.
The choice to develop in airports responds to the growing demand for fast casual proposals suitable for passengers departing, arriving or transiting. The piadina, freshly prepared with fresh dough and selected Italian ingredients, fits well into this scenario: it is a practical, customizable product, easily consumable even on the go and consistent with the needs of on-the-go and on-board consumption.
The collaboration with Chef Express allows the brand to enter a highly competitive environment with a partner specialized in catering in large mobility hubs. The Cremonini Group company is in fact one of the main Italian operators in the travel food sector, with a consolidated presence in airports, stations, motorways and on board trains.
For La Piadineria, founded in 1994, the arrival at Malpensa and Milan Bergamo represents a new step in the growth path of the brand, which today has over 540 restaurants, a rapidly developing presence in France and a first overseas restaurant opened in New York at the beginning of 2026. The network closed 2025 with 80 new openings and expects as many in 2026, confirming an expansion plan also supported by internationalization.
